Since I first posted this tutorial, I remembered where I first saw this technique and wanted to give credit for the inspiration. It came from Connie Collins blog, Constantly Stamping. I get a lot of great ideas here.
This is also my entry in the Pal Paper Arts Challenge PPA12.
Here are the supplies I used:
Stamp set: Gifts of the Earth
Paper: Very Vanilla Natural CS, Pg. 159 #106530; Chocolate Chip CS, Pg. 156 #102128; Old Olive Cs, Pg. 156 #100702
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Pg. 156 #100908; Summer Sun, Pg. 156 #100537; Creamy Caramel, Pg. 156 #103220; Ruby Red, Pg. 156 #102259; Old Olive, Pg. 156 #102277; Close to Cocoa, Pg. 156 #103139
Accessories: Circle Scissor Plus, Pg. 191 #112530; Glass Mat, Pg. 191 #112531; Blender Pens, Pg. 192 #102845; Chocolate Chip 1-1/4" Striped Grosgrain Ribbon, Pg. 183 #115617; Old Olive 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon, Pg. 183 #111368; Snail Adhesive, Pg. 192 #104332; Stampin' Dimensionals, Pg. 192 #104430; Stamp-a-ma-jig, Pg. 191 #101049; Sponge Daubers, Pg. 192 #102892; Tombow Multi-Purpose Adhesive, Pg. 192 #110755; Covered Button Kit from local fabric store.
Cut Very Vanilla Natural CS 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and score at 4-1/4" to form the card base.
Follow the directions on the package to cover a button. I used size 30 for my button. The ribbon wasn't wide enough to use the circle template that came with the kit, but it's just wide enough to cover the button for a card. (I wouldn't recommend trying it with anything you want to wash, though.) Also,I used a little Tombow Adhesive on the cut edges to keep them from fraying.
Next wrap the 1/4" Old Olive Grosgain around a piece of 4" x 5-1/4" Chocolate Chip CS.
Thread a 5" piece of 1/4" Old Olive Grosgain Ribbon through the covered button.
Cut a 5-1/2" piece of Chocolate Chip Striped Grosgrain. Wrap the Old Olive ribbon around the middle, tying it in back as shown.
Wrap the Striped Grosgrain around the card front as shown and tape in back.
Trim the ends of the Old Olive ribbon.
Use the Circle Scissor Plus to cut a 2-1/2" circle from Very Vanilla Natural CS. Center the image on the circle using the Stamp-a-ma-jig. Squeeze the inkpad to deposit ink on the inside cover of the inkpad. Pick up a small amount of the ink with a Blender Pen and color the image as desired. Ink around the edges with Close to Cocoa.
Layer onto a 2-3/4" Old Olive circle. Ink around the edges and attach to the card front with Stampin' Dimensionals.
Attach the card front to the card base.
That's it for today. I hope you enjoyed the tutorial. Thanks a bunch for stopping by.
