Snow Globe Ornament Card

When  I posted the  Turkey Treats tutorial, one of my club members challenged me to design a card using the Sweet Treat Cup as a snow globe.  I don’t know if this counts (Karen can be pretty fussy about these things, lol), but we’ll call it a snow globe ornament, okay?

 

Here are the supplies I used:

 

Stamp set:  Scenic Season, Pg. 35 #115354

 

Paper:  Whisper White CS, Pg. 155 #100730

 

Ink:  Handsome Hunter, Pg. 157 #105215; Real Red Stampin’ Write Marker, Pg. 156 #100052

 

Accessories:  Sweet Treat Cups, Holiday Mini-Catalog, Pg. 7 #116802; Dazzling Diamonds, Pg. 180 #102023; Gold Elastic Cord, Holiday Mini-Catalog, Pg. 27 #109867; Real Red Grosgrain Ribbon, Pg. 183 #109034;  Pretties Kit, Pg. 178 #109114; Snail Adhesive, Pg. 192 #104332; Stampin' Dimensionals, Pg. 192 #104430;  1-3/4” Circle Punch, Pg. 186 #112004; Mini Glue Dots, Pg. 192 #103683; 2-Way Glue Pen, Pg. 192 #100425;  Craft Spray Adhesive from craft store.

 

Cut Whisper White CS 8-1/5” x5-1/2” and score at 4-1/4” to create the card base.

Pour Dazzling Diamonds into the Treat Cup and shake it around so it sticks to the cup.  Pour the Dazzling Diamonds out.  Static will coat the cup with Dazzling Diamonds.  Now lightly spray the inside of the cup with spray adhesive.

Stamp two images from the Scenic Season stamp set on 4” x 5-1/4”  Whisper White CS.  I covered the bird while I applied the Handsome Hunter and then used the Real Red marker to color it in.

 

One image will be used for the card front.  On this piece, use the 1-3/4” circle punch to punch out a circle. 

Cut the other image down to about 2-3/4” x 2-3/4”.  Attach the Sweet Treat Cup, carefully centering the cup over the part of the image that was punched out of the card front.

Wrap a short piece of gold cord around the card front at the top of the globe as shown and tape in back.  Tie a bow in another piece of gold cord.  I used ½ of a mini glue dot to attach the bow over the cord.  Take another piece of gold cord and tie a knot in one end.  Thread a Clear Teardrop from the Pretties Kit on the cord.  Tape one end on the back of the card front.  Wrap the teardrop to the card front and attach with a mini glue dot.  Use Snail to attach the Sweet Treat Cup to the card front.  Ink around the edges with Handsome Hunter.  Use 2-Way Glue Pen to add Dazzling Diamonds to the image.

 

Wrap Real Red Grosgrain Ribbon as shown and tie a bow.  Attach to the card base with Stampin' Dimensionals.

 

That’s it.  Karen will be receiving this card on Friday for giving me a great challenge.
